Once upon a time, in November 2004, I was a new director of admission and nervous about my first Admission Open House at Harrisburg Academy. I don’t remember much about that first event, except that I survived, and we enrolled a great class of new families for the 2005-06 academic year.
Fast forward to earlier this year, when we hosted the Academy’s Fall Admission Open House. The excitement around the Open House was the same as it always is, and while I wasn’t as nervous — this was probably my 25th open house event — the importance of the event and it’s meaning to prospective families and first-time visitors is never lost on me.
The admission office — staffed by myself and Miranda Connelly — has a great group of Parent Ambassadors and other volunteers (faculty, staff, and students) who make our Open House events run smoothly. Without them, I don’t think I would be as successful in sharing this great school community we call Harrisburg Academy.
For the 100+ guests in attendance – students and parents considering enrollment at the Academy – it was an chance to learn about why the Academy is so proud to be the #1 Private School in Central Pennsylvania, and also why we enjoy offering a teaching and learning experience that is fundamentally different – and better – than the other options in our area.
If you were at the Open House, thank you for sharing your Sunday with us. If you missed the event – fear not! We are just beginning the admission cycle and would love to show you around campus. School tours are available most school days, Tues., Wed., and Thurs mornings preferred.
See you soon!
