Each summer, while students take time off and faculty refresh for the coming academic year, campus is still quite busy, especially here in the Information Technology Services (ITS) Office.  The summer months provide the time to replace, rebuild, and renew.  Sometimes the changes seen by our community are incremental, like adjustments made to the wireless network; and sometimes they can be quite revolutionary, like the web-based printing environment that was implemented last year.

This summer is no different!  With the planned construction for the new and upgraded science labs in Middle and Upper School, the ITS Office will remove and re-install technology (like SmartBoards and projectors) in the completed classrooms after construction.  With the help of our student interns, we will also be rebuilding and/or replacing not only faculty laptops, but also computer lab computers, library computers, all classroom computers, and student computers — that means over 250 computers are touched in some way to prepare them for next year.  Because ITS is an important internal service organization, we’ll also be developing and implementing computer-related learning opportunities and helpful technology guides for faculty, staff, and administration.

Did I mention we’re also moving our office?  Science lab construction means the ITS Office will soon be located in the MS/US Library office (behind the circulation desk).  Please feel free to contact us with questions at any time.

The goal of these activities is to make the Academy’s teaching and learning environment as effective as possible – all to the benefit of our students.  So while you’re lounging by the pool or camping by the lake, know that the ITS Office is working hard to prepare all of the things your student needs to be successful at school during the next academic year.
